I KNOW. You're all as surprised as I am. ''Really? A food related post after 2 months? wow.'' Not that anyone reads my blog religiously .
Now, I'm what some people would call a ''foodie''. My loverboi on the other hand, isn't really immersed in the food-loving-culture as I am, so he was a bit overwhelmed by all the food. After almost settling for getting some fries and some basic-ass burger, we decided to be adventurous and try something new. First, we tried the croquettes at Bubba. If you're thinking ''wtf this is basic af'' sure, maybe for a Belgian. I have never tried these deep fried goodies, so we decided to give the shrimp and cheese croquettes a go. It cost us around 7 euros, and for a frituur item it is a bit expensive, but one was with seafood, and generally speaking it was a better quality place at a food festival, so a bit higher prices are to be expected. Personally, it wasn't my favorite. A bit too gooey and creamy (especially the shrimp one) but if you're into that, it was worth it. Especially if it's your first time trying it. NEXT UP we went to the Bombay BBQ truck. They served indian food, which neither of us have ever tried, so we got the Bombay Badboy. It was a ground lamb burger with indian herbs and mint mayo, topped with the little orange looking crunchy things. Let me tell you - that burger changed my perception of what a burger should be like. Compared to a classical burger, this was light, fresh, with a kick of spiciness. Definitely indian, but at the same time, not?? And that mint mayo just blew our minds. I still don't know what that orange crunchy stuff is, but bless whoever decided to put it on a burger. To wrap this up, we happened to eat some free soy ice cream which they were giving out so we didn't end up eating much. Also, this hobby ain't cheap.
The event was amazing, and we got to see some wild things (like kangaroo burgers?) and it's a shame we didn't get to taste more. There was a real variety of different food trucks so for sure everyone can find something they like! Overall just a really chill day, with beautiful weather, good food & drinks, and many, many dogs. Remember kids, always try something new!
